How To Send Money Via SBI Instant Money Transfer (IMT) From ATM To Any Mobile Number?

SBI has recently launched a new product called Instant Money Transfer (IMT) which can be used to send money instantly to any mobile number in India. While, the receiver can withdraw the money through an ATM without using a card.

The technology will be beneficial for customers who find it difficult to transfer money through net banking, for individuals requiring long-distance remittances, parents sending money to children, emergency transfers.

Bank customers can make use of it when they have forgotten wallet or lost debit card, etc.

How to register beneficiary to transfer funds using Instant Money Transfer?

SBI customers will be required to provide the name and address of the beneficiary via SMS (to 567676) in the format:

BREG 9912345678+VERMA+Nerul+400706, Which is beneficiary's mobile no., beneficiary's name, beneficiaries location and location's PIN number.

For de-registration in the format UNREG 9912345678,i.e only the mobile number registration is required.

How to Send money using State Bank Group ATM?

1. Select transfer option
2. Enter debit card PIN
3. Select IMT option
4. Select IMT Initiate
5. Enter beneficiary mobile number-10 digits
6. Enter your mobile number-10 digits
7. Enter sender code-4 digits ( to be shared only with beneficiary )
8. Re-enter sender code
9. Enter amount ( in multiples of Rs.100/- and max Rs.10000/-)
10. Select YES or NO on confirmation screen
11. Select account type- Savings/Current

After successful IMT initiation a 15 digit IMT ID will be generated and a 4 digit SMS code will be sent to Beneficiary mobile number.

How to Withdraw money using IMT at ATMs?

The beneficiary can use any State Bank Group ATM to make a cardless withdrawal of the amount. As of now, this service is present on a limited number of ATMs. However, all ATMs will get covered shortly.

The step-by-step process for withdrawal of an IMT is as under:

1. Enter the State bank Group ATM, use bottom right FDK/touch screen in idle screen of the ATM against IMT logo
2. Enter Beneficiary mobile number
3. Enter sender code
4. Enter SMS code received on mobile
5. Enter amount (Full IMT amount, partial withdrawal not allowed)
6. Select YES or NO on confirmation screen
7. Collect the cash.

Things to note

• Individuals can send money of maximum up to Rs 10,000 per transaction subject to the monthly cap of Rs 25,000 per month per beneficiary will be applied automatically by the system.
• The maximum amount per sender in a calendar month is Rs 50,000/- and there is a maximum number of 10 beneficiaries per sender.
• The beneficiary has to withdraw the IMT within T+2 days, else the money will automatically be refunded back to the sender's account. However, charges will not be refunded.
• The sender of the transaction will be charged a nominal fee of Rs 25/- (Rupees Twenty five only) per transaction. While, there will be no charges at the beneficiary end.
