Pradhan Mantri LPG Panchayat

The Pradhan Mantri LPG Panchayatscheme is a backup to the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana to distribute LPG connections among the rural areas where conventional fuel is used for domestic purposes. LPG Panchayat will serve as an interactive platform between those who received LPG cylinders under PMUY, officials, LPG distributors, and NGOs.

LPG Panchayat services

In one LPG panchayat, around 100 LPG customers of nearby areas will share their experiences with each other. They can also share their problems and suggestions. The panchayats will also include safe practices, quality of service provided by distributors and availability of refill cylinders. Through officials of the oil PSUs, NGOs, Asha workers, and social workers, the Panchayat aims to connect with the beneficiaries of the Ujjwala Yojana to resolve issues and wrong beliefs they may have.

Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana

The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) is a welfare program by the government of India, launched by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2016. The government under this scheme aims to provide LPG connections to BPL households in the country. The scheme is aimed at replacing the unclean cooking fuels mostly used in the rural India with the clean and more efficient LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas). The scheme is pointed towards BPL women. The identification of eligible BPL (Below Poverty Line) families will be made on the basis of SECC-2011 data.
