After you meet with uncalled for accidents while riding your vehicle you need to get two things done, first get your vehicle repaired and also make the claim against the insurance with your insurer. While the usual physical process is cumbersome and long, the online claim processing facility available with few of the reputed insurers via their website or app makes the entire process less taxing and can be completed within few hours.

Process of making online claim
Online claim process comes with its own set of pros and cons but those who are hard-pressed with time can opt so if the claim amount is of less value say up to Rs. 50,000 and not of complex nature. Here in customers need to intimate about the claim being made to the insurer, click photographs, record relevant videos in broad daylight and upload the same for approval by the insurer. Also, copy of vehicle registration certificate (RC) and driving license is to be provided.
And in case the assessor is satisfied, using data analytics it will put forth a quote which if agreed upon by the customer will be immediately credited into the bank account of the policyholder.
After all the repair work is done, photographs and relevant videos of the repaired vehicle are required to be again uploaded in the insurer's system.
Benefits of online claim against motor insurance
Instant claim intimation may be made to the insurer via uploading of the relevant scanned documents or documents images which is not the case in a regular process where physical document copies are to be submitted.
The vehicle can also not be given for repairs until the appointed assessor or surveyor visits for vehicle inspection but in the case of online process, self-inspection of vehicles is allowed.
Limitations of making online claim
It is to be noted that such claim request via online mode is entertained only in case when the claims made are of simple nature such as that pertaining to external body damages like side panel, doors, bumper etc. or mirror or wind-shield related damages.
This said, for engine or condenser related or other underbody damages that cannot be known through video feed, physical verification is needed.
Also there is a different claim amount limit allowed under online motor insurance claim of different general insurers. For example, ICICI Lombard and Future Generali honour claim request up to Rs 50,000, while this is only Rs. 20,000 in the case of Bajaj Allianz.
It is to be noted that details of both the vehicle and accident including date, location, time, details of the accident, mobile number registered with the insurer are filled in correctly. Also, information of the driver (if the vehicle driver was other than the owner) in all respects such as name, relation, DL number, expiry date, issuing RTO, his or her mobile number needs to be provided.
Online claim services by different insurers
ICICI Lombard, Future Generali, Bajaj Allianz offer online motor insurance claims settlement service under InstaSpect, i-ViSS and MOTS service.
