Kerala Floods: How to Claim Insurance? District Wise Special Contact Numbers to Make Claims

The state of Kerala has faced its worse floods in over a century, and help has poured from states across India. To help do their bit, state-owned insurance companies are setting up camps across the state to help claim for the loss of lives and insured vehicles that have been washed away or submerged in water. National Insurance Company, New India Assurance Company, Oriental Insurance Company and United India have set up camps to help people recover from the damage.

Their collective advertisement in the newspaper says:

"Unprecedented flood and landslides have ravaged Kerala. We, the public sector General Insurance Companies National Insurance Co Ltd, New India Assurance Co Ltd, Oriental Insurance Co Ltd and United India Insurance Co Ltd join to redress the sufferings of the people."

The ad also cautions flood affected victims to "not start the vehicle parked at your home that submerged in the water. Take a photo of the vehicle. Tow it to the nearest workshop and inform the insurance company. Close the windows and disconnect the batteries of the vehicles parked in areas prone to flooding."

Apart from vehicles, public sector insurer, LIC (South Zone) will also be accelerating insurance claims for nominees and kin of Kerala flood-affected victims.
