The retirement fund entity Employees' Provident Fund Organisation or EPFO enables members to change the exit date of former employment through its epfindia.gov.in website online. This date was formerly only adjusted by the employer through offline or physically by visiting the nearest EPFO office. According to the EPFO, subscribers who do not have an EPFO exit date are unable to withdraw money from their EPF accounts or transfer a former employer's account to the existing one. All procedures related to the EPF have been made simpler with the implementation of the Universal Account Number (UAN) i.e. a unique 12-digit code in 2014. This code is linked with the PF account of the subscribers and assists them with online account management. The exit date of former employment and transfer can be changed by an employee using UAN. By following the below-listed steps you can update the exit date of former employment.

Step 1: Sign in to UAN member portal and navigate to the 'Manage' section
Step 2: Now click on 'Mark Exit' and select your PF account number from the drop-down list.
Step 3: Now you have to enter the date of exit and reason for the same.
Step 4: Now click on the box "I have read the below points carefully" and then click on 'Request OTP'
Step 5: Authenticate the OTP received on your registered mobile number and click on 'Update'
Step 6: Once you are done you will see a successful message on the screen of your device.
