The Delhi government has recently approved Rs 30,000 worth of subsidy on the installation of 3 kW rooftop solar panels. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, while announcing the subsidy, said that people can save up to Rs 4,200 per month by adopting PM Surya Ghar scheme.
The Delhi government' solar subsidy scheme can be utilised by residents to get subsidy on the installation of solar panels on their house's rooftops. The cabinet has approved Rs 30,000 subsidy for 3 kilowatt slar panels on rooftops.

Apart from announcing subsidy for Delhi residents on solar panels, Environment Minister Manjinder Singh sirsa also declared that the government will procure litter machines, anti-smog guns, mechanial road sweepers and water sprinklers in a bid to control pollution, especially during winter season.
"Now the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has approved a subsidy of Rs 10,000 per kilowatt more which comes around to Rs 30,000," news agency PTI quoted minister Sirsa as saying on Tuesday, May 20.

The subsidy can be availed above PM Surya Ghar subsidy scheme. As per Delhi CM Gupta's announcement, people can save additional Rs 4,200 each month by adopting the scheme. The PM Surya Ghar Scheme provides a subsidy of Rs 78,000 for installing rooftop solar panels. Meanwhile, the consumer can get the benefit of solar power solutions at zero initial cost. This will help them save nearly Rs 4,200 on their monthly electricity bills on an average.

On the home page of the website, there will be an option to register for Delhi Solar Subsidy
To register, enter your CA number, mentioned on your house's electricity bill. Also enter your email address and mobile number.
After registering in the portal, next step is to login with your account.
Enter your mobile number to login on the website.
Apply for Delhi Solar Subsidy.
Note down the registered application number generated after applying. You may also get the details of your application via SMS on your registered mobile number.
Your application will be processed in a few days.
You will also get notified about your registration status on phone and about release of the applicable Delhi Solar subsidy.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to boost the adoption of green energy across the capital and is in line with the government's ambitious plan to equip 230,000 residential units with rooftop solar systems within the next three years. The total investment for this solar venture is projected at ₹50 crore.
According to reports, the government is also planning to collaborate with financial institutions, offering loan options to cover the remaining solar rooftop installation expenses, estimated at around ₹90,000. "This will enable residents to install solar panels without any upfront payment. It is a transformative step toward building a cleaner, greener Delhi," said Chief Minister Rekha Gupta while announcing subsidy. The initiative is expected not only to make solar energy more accessible to the masses but also to significantly reduce electricity bills.
