The Government of India launched the e-Shram Yojana to provide social security to workers in unorganised sectors. The government also launched the e-Shram portal for workers in unorganised sectors. The goal of the e-Shram portal is to collect a database of unorganised workers in order to provide them with the benefits of various government schemes.
The Ministry of Labor and Employment launched the E-Shram Portal on August 26. The government provides workers with cash assistance as well as other benefits under this plan. This scheme also includes the benefit of Worker's Compensation. Before using the E-Shram Yojana, the beneficiary must register on the official website (E-Shram Portal Registration). This scheme is open to all residents, including ordinary residents, students, and low-income families, in addition to labourers.
What is UAN?
Each unorganised worker is given a 12-digit number after registering on the e-Shram portal. The UAN number will be a permanent number, which means that it will remain unchanged for the duration of the employee's career.
What is an E Shram Card?
Workers who register successfully for the e-Shram Portal will be given an eShram Card. The card will bear a 12-digit UAN number. Employees who self-register and use the e-Shram portal are not required to apply for any other government social welfare programme.
