-Go to Google Playstore, download and install Umang application.
-Open the application and search for EPFO service. Select the 'View Passbook' option.
-Enter your UAN number.
-You will receive a one time password (OTP) on your registered mobile number. Enter the OTP.
-Select your member ID and download your e-Passbook.
EPFO members who haven't activated their UAN ID won't be able to check their EPF balance on its official website or via Umang application.

What is UAN?

Universal Account Number is a unique identification number which is allotted to every EPFO members. The UAN number is allotted by teh Ministry of Labour and Employment and remains the same for individuals throughout life, even after switching a job.
Apart from a single UAN number EPFO members can have multiple EPF account numbers and member IDs associated with employer. UAN activation allows EPFO members to check their EPF balance, transfer funds and even opt for online withdrawals.

How To Activate UAN?

To find your UAN, start by visiting the EPFO Member Portal. Once there, select "Know your UAN." You will need to input your registered mobile number and a captcha code before clicking on "Request OTP."
After receiving the OTP, enter it along with another captcha for verification. Next, provide your name, date of birth, Aadhaar or PAN, and member ID. Complete the process by clicking "Show my UAN" to view your UAN.

Steps for UAN Activation Online

-To activate your UAN online, visit the EPFO Member Portal and choose "Activate UAN."
-Enter your credentials like UAN, member ID, Aadhaar number, name, date of birth, mobile number, etc.
-Click on "Get Authorisation PIN" to proceed.
-An authorization PIN will be sent to your registered mobile number.
-Use this PIN to validate by clicking on "Validate OTP and Activate UAN." Once activated, you will receive a password on your mobile number.
-It is advised to login with your UAN number and password on EPFO website or Umang application a day later.
-UAN activation would help people to log in to their EPF account, access passbook and check other details.

UAN acts as a umbrella for the creation of multiple PF accounts of a membet. Before the introduction of UAN, it was difficult to track EPF accounts of the employee. UAN also allows EPF members to easily transfer their PF from old accounts to the new one online with the help of UAN.
