For the members of the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) who have been waiting a long time for their claim settlements, EPFO has made a big announcement for them. The Ministry of Finance has declared via Twitter handle that "EPFO offices have settled a total of 1.02 crore claims, disbursing an amount of Rs. 35,500 crores to PF Members from 01.04.2021 to 31.07.2021." The claims which include the final PF settlement, settlement of pension fund, pension claims, PF claims made by a nominee, claim of EDLI insurance benefits, PF advance claim, PF transfer claim and so on have been settled down by the EPFO offices as on 15th September 2021.

As a result, EPF members can check their PF balance online and offline ways. Under online mode, they can check their account balance via UMANG app and e-Sewa portal and under the offline mode, they can conduct the same task via missed call and SMS facility. Hence, below are the 4 ways to check your PF balance from the comfort of your home.
PF Balance Check
By following the steps and ways listed below you can check your PF balance without needing to visit your nearest EPFO office physically.
Via UMANG app
With UMANG app one can raise a claim, view and download passbook, track claim status and much more. To check the balance you need to make sure that your UAN is linked with your bank account number, Aadhaar number or PAN. EPF members are required to open the UMANG app and search for EPFO. After redirecting to the EPFO page they need to tap on 'View Passbook' and enter the required credentials such as UAN number and OTP which they will get on their registered mobile number. Upon successful authentication, their passbook details will be displayed on the mobile screen.
Via e-Sewa portal
- To check your EPF balance through the e-Sewa portal, follow the below-discussed steps by keeping your UAN and mobile number handy.
- Visit www.epfindia.gov.in and click on 'For Employees' under the 'Our Services' section.
- Now click on 'Member Passbook' under the 'Services' section.
- Now you will be redirected to the page https://passbook.epfindia.gov.in/MemberPassBook/Login.jsp where you can access your PF passbook.
Via SMS
To check your EPF balance and statement via SMS, your UAN should be registered with EPFO and must be active. To check your balance type EPFOHO UAN ENG and send it to 7738299899 from your registered mobile number. Here 'ENG' is English which is the preferred language that you can change. If your preferred language is Hindi then the last three characters will be HIN.
Via Missed Call
Members who have enrolled on the UAN portal can receive their EPFO details by giving a missed call at 011-22901406 from their registered mobile number. If the member's UAN is linked with any of his or her bank account number, AADHAAR number, or PAN, the member will get details about his or her most recent contribution and PF balance. Give a missed call from your registered mobile number to 01122901406. After two rings, the phone is automatically disconnected, and you will be provided details about your PF balance and account by EPFO.
