EPFO Update Alert: To ease the burden on its members, the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has recently launched EPFO Passbook Lite. The new feature offers quick, hassle-free, and instant access to EPFO members to their balance.
The EPFO Passbook Lite feature allows subscribers to access their EPFO passbook balance with ease. Earlier, EPFO members would be redirected to another EPFO website, where they had to log in again to check their balance. EPFO Passbook Lite has changed it all, and now lets its members to check their balance directly on the same website.

What is EPFO Passbook Lite?
The EPFO Passbook Lite is a new facility or a feature on the EPFO's official website. The new facility, or feature, enables members to easily check their passbook and a related summarised view of the contributions. It also enables EPFO members to check their withdrawals and balances in a simple and convenient format through the member portal itself. Before the launch of EPFO Passbook Lite, members were required to go to the passbook portal, where they were required to log in again.
How TO Use EPFO Passbook Lite?
The new feature is available on the website of EPFO. Follow the steps mentioned below to use EPFO Passbook Lite.
-Visit the official website of EPFO, ie its portal:
https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/
-Select the option to Login as Employee.
-Enter your UAN ID and password.
-Once you log in to the EPFO portal, select the 'View' option. Select 'Passbook Lite' from the dropdown menu.
-Now select Member ID to check your EPFO contribution.
By following these steps, EPFO members can check their passbook balance, their monthly contribution and the amount contributed by their employer. They can also check their total EPFO passbook balance amount.
Employees Can Download Their Transfer Certificate!
In a major reform for EPFO members, employees can directly access and download their Form 13 online. Form 13 is an EPFO document issued when an employee changes job and switch from one organisation to another.
After transfer, a transfer certificate, known as Annexure K, is generated by the previous PF office and sent to the new PF office. Until now, Annexure K was only shared between PF offices and was made available to members only on their request.
Now, employees can download their Annexure K directly from the member portal. The new reform would help EPFO members to track status of their transfer application online. It will also help in ensuring transparency in the process and let members verify their PF transfers.
