PM Ujjwala Yojana Benefit: In a major development around PM Ujjwala Yojana beneficiaries, the Union Cabinet on Friday approved a capital outlay of Rs 12,000 crore. The government has allocated the amount for the scheme for the financial year 2025-26, as reported by CNBC TV 18.
The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana has benefited more than 10,000 crore people and helped them obtain LPG connections and access to cleaner, smoke-free cooking fuel. Here are all the details about the scheme.

What Is Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana?
The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana is being run by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MOPNG). The central government's flagship scheme aims to provide clean cooking fuel like liquified petroleum gas (LPG) available to the rural and deprived households.
With this scheme, the government aims to provide free LPG gas connections with additional perks to the rural and deprived households, who were otherwise using traditional cooking fuels.
PM Ujjwala Scheme: What Are The Key Benefits?
The scheme offers financial support of Rs 2,200 for those who apply for Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana gas connections. The financial support is offered for a 14.2 cylinder. Additionally, Rs 1300 are provided for the first LPG cylinder of 5 kg. According to the government website, the PMAY scheme covers several costs, including the security deposit for the cylinder, which is Rs. 1850 for the larger cylinder and Rs. 950 for the smaller one.
PMAY Extra Costs Covered
The cash aid also includes Rs. 150 for a pressure regulator and Rs. 100 for an LPG hose. Furthermore, a domestic gas consumer card is provided at a cost of Rs. 25, and inspection, installation, and demonstration charges are covered with an additional Rs. 75. PM Ujjwala Yojana beneficiaries will also receive their first LPG refill for free of charge and will also get a stove (hotplate) for free of cost at the time of receiving deposit-free connection from the oil marketing companies (OMCs).

PM Ujjwala Yojana: How To Apply?
-Visit the official website of PMAY, ie https://www.pmuy.gov.in/
-Select the oil company name like Indane/Bharatgas/HP Gas, etc.
-Now, select the type of connection you want, like Ujjwala 2.0 New Connection.
-Fill details like state, district, name of distributor, etc.
-Enter your mobile number, and the OTP you will receive afterwards.
-Fill Annexure 1 for family identifier in 'No'.
-Fill Ration card details for family identifier in 'Yes'.
-Select the category and fill in all the necessary details like address, name, bank details, cylinder types, etc.
-Generate the reference number and visit gas agency.
