To keep your account active and avail all the online services it is mandated to make your EPF account KYC compliant. You will not be able to avail different facilities online on the Employees Provident Fund Organisation's (EPFO) Member e-Sewa portal in case your account is not KYC compliant. EPFO will refuse the service request issued by you and request you to make your account KYC compliant if it is not done yet. According to the latest update by Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) it is confirmed that most of the subscribers have not yet received the interest of last fiscal year and the reason is incomplete KYC only. EPFO has reduced interest rate on provident fund deposits in March to a low of 8.5 per cent for 2019-20. Thus, to receive EPF interest the government has made it compulsory to make the EPF account KYC compliant for all the subscribers.
EPF KYC Update
You can follow the below-mentioned steps to update KYC online if you have not received interest of the last financial year yet.
- Visit https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface and under the 'Manage' tab and click on 'KYC' option.
- Now select the KYC documents that you want to upload. Please remember that it is compulsory to link your Aadhaar with UAN for online claims processing. Likewise, if the number of employment years is less than 5 at the time of withdrawal, PAN is also compulsory.
- Now after selecting the respective documents, enter the documents number and other specifics in the required fields. For instance if you have selected Aadhaar, you need to enter your Aadhaar number as the document number and name as per your Aadhaar.
- Now click on 'Save' and under the 'KYC Pending for Approval' menu, your KYC status will be displayed.
Remember you will have to submit the uploaded KYC documents to your employer. Your KYC specifics will be updated on the records of EPFO once your KYC documents are verified and confirmed by the employer. You will also get an SMS on your registered mobile number once the KYC records are approved by your employer. The status of the documents that were submitted by you to your employer will be displayed in the 'Digital Approved KYC' section under the KYC tab. Your KYC approved documents will be displayed as 'approved by establishment' and 'online verification status' on the EPFO portal. Individuals updating the KYC details should remember that whatever details are being submitted by them is accurate. You can not withdraw your EPF corpus if the incorrect bank account number or IFSC is linked with your UAN.
