To make your banking services run more smoothly and securely, the country's largest lender, State Bank of India (SBI), is allowing its customers, particularly senior citizens, to apply for doorstep banking services, through which they can conduct their essential banking tasks at their doorstep and avoid physically visiting their bank branch. SBI has reminded its customers of the importance of doorstep banking today by saying that "Enjoy our Doorstep Banking services! - Upon successful registration of DSB Service, a Doorstep Banking Agent (DSA) would be deployed to your doorstep. The bank will provide the Cheque Book, Statement of Account, and Term Deposit Instructions to you via Post/Courier.
- The service delivery via Doorstep Banking Agent (DSA) will be accomplished as quickly as possible but no later than the T+1 working day (excluding bank holidays).
- On a per-transaction basis, the maximum limit for cash transactions under DSB services is presently Rs 20,000 for both Cash Pick up (Deposit) and Cash Delivery (Withdrawal), and with a minimum limit of Rs 1,000 for both Cash Pick up (Deposit) and Cash Delivery (Withdrawal).
- Only deposits and withdrawals in multiples of Rs 100/- are permitted through DSB services.
- Transferring an account from one bank branch to another is also possible via DSB services; however, while requesting Doorstep Banking services, one must furnish the bank with his or her current address and pin code.
- Other than the service request recorded through the Toll-Free Number, no other services/requests would be considered by the bank/DSA.
- The customer is not required to pay charges to the Doorstep Banking Agent in exchange for the services. It will be deducted from their registered bank account directly.
- In a single call, the customer can only use two services. There will be only one cash transaction, whether it is a pick-up or a delivery. A fresh service request should be made for another cash transaction.
- Customers can submit up to two cheques/instruments per pick-up request. He or she can also use the Cheque Book Requisition Slip to obtain up to 100 cheque leaves.
Eligibility Criteria
Customers must fulfill the eligibility requirements given below in order to apply for doorstep banking.
- Senior citizens above the age of 70 and resident individual customers.
- Account-holders who have completed the KYC process.
- A valid mobile number must be registered with the customer's bank account.
- SBI's doorstep banking is available to single account holders and joint account holders with either a survivor/ former survivor.
- Customers should have registered for the SMS facility of the bank.
How to apply for SBI Doorstep Banking?
Customers can apply for SBI doorstep banking by calling toll-free 1800 1037 188 or 1800 1213 721, or by visiting their local branch and filling the requisite Application cum Terms & Conditions form and Undertaking (enclosed as Annexure-II and III) with their passport size photograph attached with the form.
Once customers have finished their CBS registration, they are eligible for Doorstep Banking services, and an SMS confirming their registration will be issued to them. Customers who want to use the service should dial the toll-free number 1800-1111-03 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on working days only at the center) from their registered mobile number.
Once the call gets connected, the customer must provide the last four digits of his or her Savings Bank/ Current Account number for which Doorstep Banking Services has been authorised. Following effective verification of bank account number, the call will be routed to a Contact Centre Agent, who will register the service request.
The customer must inform the Contact Centre Agent of the specifics of their request as well as the chosen time for service delivery. Once a service request is approved, the customer will receive an SMS with the Case ID and request type and the request will be recorded by the Doorstep Banking Agent, who will call the customer and schedule an appointment to conduct his or her doorstep banking service.
