How To Check Balance In PF Passbook Via EPFO Website, Umang App, Missed Calls, & SMS?

A tool for saving is the Employees' Provident Fund (EPF). Equal amounts are contributed by the employer and the employee to savings that can be accessed at retirement or after changing jobs. One can check the Provident Fund (PF) balance from different mediums. The balance can be checked via the Umang app, the EPFO Portal, a missed call, an SMS, and other methods.

Before moving forward, make sure your employer has activated your Universal Account Number (UAN) before checking your EPF balance. A UAN is a special identification number that is given to the employee by the employer for the contribution of PF.

1. Checking PF Balance Via EPFO Website

Step 1: Visit the EPFO portal. Click on the 'Our Services' tab and choose the "For Employees" option from the drop-down menu. 

Step 2: A new screen will pop up. G down and click on 'Member passbook' under the "Services" option.

Step 3:There will be a login page. Once activated, enter your UAN number and password here.

Step 4: Choose "Member ID" and then "View Password [Old: Full]" from the menu.

Step 5: After this, your PF details will be displayed on the screen.

2. Check PF balance via UMANG app

EPFO-registered employees can also check their PF balance via UMANG app by simply downloading the app from Play Store/App Store on their phones. Select the "EPFO" option listed under the "All Services" tab on the App. Now, under the "Employee Centric Services," click on the "View Passbook" tab. 

One should note that the Umang app can be used to complete all provident fund-related tasks. With this app's assistance, you can check your balance. In addition, you can monitor the status of your claim.

 

 

3. PF Balance Check by Sending an SMS

If your UAN number is active, you can send a message from the registered number to 7738299899. Once your KYC information has been integrated with the UAN, follow these two steps:

Step 01: Send an SMS from your registered number to 7738299899 mobile number.

Step 02: The format of the message will be 'EPFOHO UAN ENG'.

In the SMS, you must select your preferred language of communication. "ENG" in the SMS stands for the English Language. This service is available not only in English but also in Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi, Punjabi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Bengali. To get information in other languages. Simply type in the first three letters of your chosen language to do so.

4. Checking PF balance via Miss Call

To find out the account balance of a Provident Fund, dial '9966044425' from the registered phone number, and give a Miss Call. However, when you call this number, the call will be disconnected after two rings. Following a missed call, you will receive an SMS with your PF information.

However, one should note, the amount of contributions made to the PF account can only be known via Missed call if the UAN is connected to the bank account, Aadhaar, and PAN numbers. PF account in the previous month will also be known with the aid of the message. Every time funds are deposited into your account, EPFO automatically sends the information to the registered mobile number.

This service is only available upon the integration of your UAN with your KYC details. If you are unable to do this, you can take the help of your employer.
