How to deposit or cash a cheque?
A variety of alternatives are available when it comes to depositing or cashing a check. You can make cash withdrawals via an ATM, a cashier, or net banking if you have a savings account. Even if you don't have a checking account, processing a check through an alternative channel, such as a merchant, is a comparatively simple process. Opening a current account, whether at a bank or through electronic banking that offers reliable online current accounts, is the best long-term solution, as processing a check is simple and free.

How Do I Cash or Deposit a Check?
- If you don't have a chequing account, go to the bank or a well-known retailer that is listed on the cheque. If you're a banking customer, visit the bank or ATMs of your bank, or you can use mobile transfer.
- Before processing or depositing the check, sign it on the backside with your name on the X line.
- If you don't have a bank account, you'll generally need to show a store staff or bank employee proof of your identity, such as an Aadhar card or another type of official identification.Next, hand over the check and get your cash. When you are a banking customer, you may present the check to an ATM or a bank staff together with your ATM card. A bank employee could also ask for identification. You won't be able to withdraw money until the check has been processed.
Where to cash a cheque?
- To withdraw money from the bank of the business entity and the person who wrote that, a cheque must be available. National banks and credit unions do not have the authority to cash a non-customer cheque. When they do, they frequently demand payment, which could be either a flat fee or a percentage of the cheque value. Additionally, certain banks could require two different types of IDs.
- Several large stores offer cheque cashing services for very low fees per cheque.
- With such a debit card, you can make withdrawals after depositing a cheque by adding the entire amount to the card's account. If applicable, submit the cheque through mobile payments depositing through the card's smartphone application, or visit a large retailer that participates in a reloading system. Finally, you can now withdraw cash from an ATM or the retailer's physical location.
