How to Know Your EPF UAN and Download UAN Card?

Any employee who contributes to the EPF is assigned a 12-digit universal account number or UAN. An employee's UAN remains the same throughout his or her career, regardless of how many jobs he or she changes. After the member ID is established, it is linked to the employee's UAN. As a result, the UAN will serve as a single point of contact for the employee's various Member Ids assigned by various employers. You can instantly update your registered e-mail and phone number by using the UAN EPF portal.

One of the most important applications of this unique number is that it relieves the EPF organization of the burden of employee verification from companies and employers. UAN is very important to track the employee's various job switches. Using this specific account number, employees can transfer their PF balance from old to new. If your UAN is already Aadhaar and KYC-verified, new employers will not need to validate your profile.

What are the documents required for UAN registration?

When an individual joins the Employee Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), the EPFO assigns UAN. The employee must provide the following details to the employer in order to receive a UAN:

1. Bank Details: Account number, IFSC code, and branch name.
2. ID proof: National identity cards like driving license, passport, or voter ID
3. PAN: Your PAN and UAN should be linked.
4. Aadhar: It is needed because Aadhaar is linked to a bank account and a mobile number.

Driving License, Voter ID, ration card are optional. Your current address can be a recent utility bill in your name, a rental/lease agreement, or a ration card.

How to know your UAN?

You can also get your Universal Account Number from the UAN portal if you can't get it from your employer. You must take the following steps:
Step 1: Visit the UAN Portal 

https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/
Step 2: Click on the tab 'Know your UAN Status"
Step 3: Fill in all the details carefully, select from the drop-down menu and enter your PF number/member ID along with the other details and captcha code. 
Step 4: Click on 'Get Authorization Pin'.
Step 5: A PIN will be sent to your phone number. Click the 'Validate OTP and get UAN' button after entering the PIN.
Your UAN will be sent to your registered mobile number.

How to activate UAN and login to the EPFO?

You'll need your Universal Account Number and PF member ID to activate UAN. The steps to access UAN on the EPFO portal are as follows:

Step 1: Visit EPFO homepage- Go to our Services' on the dashboard.
Step 2: Click on 'For Employees
Step 3: You will be directed to the UAN portal. In the services section, click on 'Member UAN/Online services.'
Step 4: Enter UAN, all other required details
Step 5: Click on the 'Get authorization PIN' button.
(The PIN will be sent to your registered mobile number.)
Step 6: Under the disclaimer checkbox, click on 'I Agree,' then enter the OTP you received on your phone number.
Step 7: Click on 'Validate OTP and Activate UAN.'
You will obtain a password to enter your account after activating your UAN on your registered mobile number.

How to Download UAN and Print UAN Card?

The steps for downloading the UAN card through the UAN portal are outlined below.

Step 1: Visit the UAN EPF portal directly https://unifiedportalmem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/
Step 2: Login using UAN number and password.
Step 3: Enter Captcha Code
Step 4: Click on View and select the UAN card from the dropdown
Step 5: Once you click, your card will open and there will be an option on the right-hand side to download the same.

Forgot UAN?

If you are not sure of your UAN, you can visit the below link and follow the steps. You will receive your UAN on your registered mobile number. 

Go to the EPF UAN website, Click on " Know Your UAN" available at the right side of the end of the page. 

Step 1: Enter your registered phone number
Step 2: Enter Captcha Code
Step 3: Enter the OTP received on your number
Step 4: In the next page; Enter your Name
Step 5: Select Date of Birth
Step 6: Select any of the ID number (Aadhaar, PAN, Member ID)
Step 7: Enter Captcha Code

Click on Show My UAN. You will receive the details on your mobile number.
