A cheque deposit kiosk (CDK) is a unique device that allows a customer to deposit a cheque without having to go to the bank. Avoiding huge waits, and conducting secure transactions in a matter of seconds with a CDK machine can be done nowadays, thanks to our growing banking system. Remember the old days when customers had to visit the bank, wait in lengthy crowds, fill up cheque deposit slips, and have their cheque deposited which was no doubt a hassle and time-taking way to complete the task; now, the leading lender, State Bank of India (SBI), has allowed users to deposit their cheque at any CDK accessible at their bank branch. SBI says that retail customers can use the YONO app to deposit cheques in bulk. According to SBI, using a Check Truncation System (CTS) enabled cheque deposit kiosk (CDK) is a safe and secure way to deposit a cheque because all one has to do is punch his or her CT - 2010 compliant cheque and obtain a system-generated truncated image and a receipt.

Steps to make cheque deposit at CDK machine
- Customers can visit their nearest CDK machine.
- Now they are required to enter the cheque details and punch in the CTS compliant cheque.
- Once the details are verified by the machine, a system-generated slip will be granted to the customer.
SBI has mentioned on its website that "Cheques deposited at branch counters and Cheques deposited in the drop-box within the branch premises, before the specified cut-off time, will be sent for clearance on same day, for which the clearance period will be T+1 working day. Cheques deposited after this cut off time will be sent for clearing on next day, for which clearance period will be T+2 working days." Customers should also be aware that the first 10 cheque leaves in a financial year will be provided free of charge. According to SBI, a 10 leaf cheque book will cost Rs 40 plus GST, a 25 leaf cheque book would cost Rs 75 plus GST, and an emergency cheque book will cost Rs 50 plus GST for 10 leaves or part thereof.
