The National Pension Scheme (NPS) is a government scheme that helps you to mobilize your earnings in order to receive a regular income as a pension after you retire. On June 1, 2009, the central government launched the scheme under the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority. Employees in the private and public sectors, as well as those in the unorganized sector, are eligible to participate in the NPS scheme.
