Instagram, the popular photo and video-sharing social networking platform, introduced its standalone messaging app called Threads. Threads offers a fresh, distinct location for in-the-moment updates and open discussions, whether you're a creator or only a poster. The open, interoperable social networks that can influence the direction of the internet's future are being made compatible with Threads.
People can submit text and links on Threads as well as comment to and repost other people's posts. Users will be able to import their existing follower lists and account names from Instagram, Meta's photo and video-sharing app with more than 2 billion users that includes well-known businesses, celebrities, and creators.

According to Meta's founder Mark Zuckerberg, the app received over 10 million sign-ups in its first seven hours. But compared to Twitter's more than 300 million users, that's still a long way off.
Here's a step-by-step guide on how to sign up, log in, and create posts on Instagram's Threads app.
How does the Threads App work?
The feed provided by Threads include updates from users you follow as well as suggested content from up-and-coming authors. Posts may contain up to 500 characters, links, images, and videos that are up to five minutes long. Users can also quickly share their Threads posts as links on other sites or to their Instagram story. Meta has plans to upgrade Threads' recommendations in the feed and give users a more powerful search tool for real-time topic and trend tracking.
How to sign up for the Threads app on Android and iPhone?
- Download "Threads app" from App store or Play store as the app is available on both android and ios version.
- Open the app and login with an instagram account
- Enter Instagram username and password
- Now, you can import your profile information from instagram by clicking on " import from instagram" or Enter bio, link, and profile picture by tapping on each respective icon.
- Now click "Next."
- Choose between Public profile or Private profile
- When you sign up for Threads, your profile will be automatically set to private if you are under 16 (or under 18 in some countries).
- On Instagram, you can decide to follow the same accounts you already do to locate new users who share your interests.
- Finally, click on "Join Threads"
After successfully logging in, you may use the app to start creating threads. Like Twitter, Threads is a text-based application. In place of "tweets," they refer to "Threads," and in place of "retweets," they refer to "shares." The "likes" feature, however, is the same on both systems.
How to create a new thread?
- For creating a new thread click on the edit icon at the bottom.
- Enter what you want to include for creating a thread.
- If you want to attach a photo or a video to your thread then-
- Click on the attachment icon
- Select up to ten items that you wish to attach.
- Click on 'Add to thread', for adding it to the thread.
Note- If the thread contains more than 500 characters, in that case a new thread will be added automatically.
- You can limit the replies on your thread to the profiles you follow or you can select anyone for making it open for anyone.
- Now, Tap Post and your thread will be posted.
