This facility provides an account for every Aadhaar holder to access certificates like vehicle registration, academic marks sheet, driving license in digital format from its original issuers of these certificates.
The introduction of the concept of DigiLocker has bough in a sea of change the way the list of government documents can be stored safely at one place. It is a cloud-based document storage system introduced by the Government of India. Using the DigiLocker facility the users can store important documents like insurance policies, marks sheet, driving license, PAN Card, Aadhaar Card, Election Voter ID and so on in electronic format.

As they will be stored in the cloud, it will be easy for accessibility by the user or for any of the government verifying authority based on the requirement.
Pre-Requisites for DigiLocker
One has to register on the DigiLocker with their authenticated mobile number. One can also use their Aadhar number for registration purpose which is linked with their mobile number. The government provides the users to store up to 1 GB of documents in the DigiLocker.
How to Register in DigiLocker?
- The DigiLocker can be downloaded on the mobile application or can be directly accessed from the official website and enter their mobile number or Aadhaar card number.
- Post submitting the necessary details, an OTP will be generated.
- An OTP will be sent to the mobile number.
- After authentication, one can create a user name and password to login to the DigiLocker account.
Note: To link Aadhaar with DigiLocker, it is necessary for the user that his or her mobile number should be linked with Aadhaar Card.

The users of the DigiLocker can avail the services by visiting the official website or by downloading the mobile application on their phone.
How to get e-documents from DigiLocker?
The users of DigiLocker can get documents like driving license by entering their vehicle registration details.
How to Upload Documents in DigiLocker?
The users can upload the documents issued by the government by clicking on the upload icon found on the 'Uploaded Documents' section. First, click on 'Select Doc Type' and choose the type of document to be uploaded from the drop-down menu before saving.
