On the e-filing platform, the charge for connecting Aadhaar Card and PAN Card is Rs 1000. According to the Income Tax Department, everyone is needed to connect their PAN and Aadhaar by March 31, otherwise their PAN Card would become inoperative. The deadline for linking Aadhaar to a Permanent Account Number (PAN) for income tax reasons is quickly approaching. According to a circular released by the Central Board of Direct Taxes, all taxpayers must link the two by March 31, 2023, or face sanctions under the I-T Act and a variety of consequences (CBDT). Those who have yet to complete the process must now pay Aadhaar-PAN connection costs.

Aadhaar-PAN connection was free till March 31, 2022, according to the Income Tax Department website. A 500 charge was levied beginning April 1, 2022, and was later increased to 1,000 beginning July 1, 2022.
How to pay Aadhaar-PAN link fees?
First- For taxpayers to continue with the Aadhaar-PAN connection request, the Income Tax department has offered an e-pay facility.
It has also authorised a handful of banks to accept e-payments for taxes. Among them are the Bank of India, Axis Bank, Canara Bank, Central Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, City Union Bank, ICICI Bank, Federal Bank, IDBI Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, IndusInd Bank, Indian Bank, Jammu & Kashmir Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Karur Vysya Bank, UCO Bank, Punjab National Bank, and Union Bank of India.
- If a taxpayer holds an account in any of these banks, he or she must take the following measures.
- Visit the website's e-filing main page and click on Connect Aadhaar under the Quick Links section. Log in to the e-filing system and select Connect Aadhar under the Profile Section.
- The taxpayer must provide their PAN number, confirm it, and input their cellphone number for OTP verification. After OTP verification, the taxpayer will be forwarded to the e-pay tax website.
- On the Income Tax tile, click Continue.
- Continue by selecting AY 2023-24 and Type of Payment as other Receipts (500).
- The appropriate amount will be pre-filled in the Others box, and the taxpayer must click Proceed.
- A challan will now be produced. After selecting the manner of payment, the taxpayer must go to the following screen. He or she will be routed to the bank's website to make a payment.
Second- The website has separate steps for customers of other banks who are not listed for e-pay tax payment.
- Go to the e-filing website.
- Click on the hyperlink on the e-Pay tax page to be routed to the Protean (NSDL) site.
- Choose (0021) Income Tax (Other than Businesses) under Tax Applicable (Major Head) Select (500) Other Receipts) under Kind of Payment (Minor Head)
- Choose AY as 2023-24, provide the required information, and click Continue.
If a person does not link the two papers, his or her PAN will become inactive, causing complications when submitting income tax returns.
