A passport is required for travel abroad. Passport services are provided nationwide by a number of Passport Seva Centers under the direction of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). The India Post now provides the facility to apply for passports.The facility has made passport services more accessible to the general public through Post Offices, bringing convenience to the community by preventing residents from having to travel great distances to obtain a passport.There are around 428 Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSKs) around the nation, with 65 of them located in Aspirational Districts. What is Post Office Passport Seva Kendras?
Passport Seva Kendras and Post Office Passport Seva Kendras are front-end passport issuance services provided by Passport Offices. These Kendras provide services ranging from token issuance to passport issue/reissue applications and other services.
Documents required for the application
- A proof of identity, such as an Aadhaar card, voter ID, driving licence etc.
- Proof of Age such as birth certificates, transcripts, etc.
- PAN card, driving licence, and Aadhaar card.
- Proof of address such as water bill, gas connection bill, electricity bill etc
- Passbook with photo
- agreement of rent (if applicable)

How to apply for a passport at the post office nearby
- Go to passportindia.gov.in, which is Passport Seva's official website.
- Complete and submit the online passport application.
- After submitting your application, go to the local post office where there is a Passport Seva Kendra and bring the original papers and your application print receipt with you.
- Your passport will be issued within 7 to 14 working days after the officials have successfully verified your information.
Now, you can apply for a passport in the Post Office Passport Seva Kendra without any problem but after submitting the online application it is mandatory to physically visit the Post Office Passport Seva Kendra with the print receipt and original documents.
