Jaiprakash Asso, Larsen, Suzlon Energy and Tata Motors, who among the top gainers, were at 6.90 percent, 6.69 percent, 6.56 percent and 5.82 percent up respectively.

DLF, Siemens, who among the top losers, were at 0.44 percent, 0.18 percent down respectively.

Sensex gains 394 pts; dwells above 18K

At 1:52 pm, the 30-share BSE Sensex gained 394 points at 18,122. European markets too were up in opening trade.

ICICI Bank, SBI, HDFC, Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank and PNB from financial pack jumped 3-5 percent. Among other largecaps - Infosys, TCS, Bharti, ITC, ONGC and HDFC Bank were up 2 percent.

Manappuram, United Breweries, KEC Intl, UB Holdings and TVS Motor, who among the midcaps, gained 10-17 percent. However, Sunteck Realty, Patel Engg, Hind National Glass, SpiceJet and Godfrey Phillip shed 2-7 percent.

Sensex gains 387 pts at noon trade

At 1:02 pm, the 30-share BSE Sensex was trading at 18,115, with gain of 387 points and the 50-share NSE Nifty jumped 119 points to 5,429.

All sectoral indices were on buyers' radar - the BSE Capital Goods was the leading index with 3.6 percent gain. Auto, Metal, FMCG, Bank, Power and Healthcare indices were up 2-3 percent.

SBI, ICICI Bank, NTPC, Bharti Airtel, TCS, BHEL, ITC, HDFC and Tata Steel rallied 2-3 percent. L&T, Tata Motors and Jindal Steel were top gainers on Nifty with 4.5-5.5 percent gain.

Mubarak quits; Global markets on +Ve mode

After Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak resigned on Feb 11, global markets were on uptrend on stability in the nation on Monday, Feb 14.

At 10:53 am, the 30-share BSE Sensex was trading at 18,001, up 282 points and the 50-share NSE Nifty surged 88 points to 5,397.

The broader indices were outperforming the benchmarks - the BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices rallied 2.5-3 percent.
