The top gainers were Reliance Infra up 5.19 percent, Ambuja Cements up 3.79 percent, ISBI up 3.18 percent and ICICI Bank up 3.10 percent.
The top losers were HUL down 1.24 percent, Cipla down 0.55 percent, Hindalco down 0.51 percent and Hero Honda down 0.50 percent.

Market continues in green; Nifty above 5500
The uptrend in Indian markets continued following the positive gains in other Asian markets, especially in Japan. Financial, technology, telecom, infrastructure, oil & gas, metal, realty and cement companies' shares were leading the markets higher.
At 03.00 hrs, BSE Sensex was 18366.62 up 198.98 points and NSE Nifty was 5515.45 up 61.85 points.
The most active in trading were Reliance, ICICI Bank, SBI and Tata Steel.
The top gainers were Reliance Infra up 5.57 percent, Ambuja Cements up 3.67 percent, ICICI Bank up 3.09 percent and Axis Bank up 3.03 percent.
The top losers were HUL down 1.49 percent, Hindalco down 0.61 percent, Cipla down 0.57 percent and Hero Honda down 0.56 percent.

Sensex gains 228 pts; Nifty 71 pts up
At 12:22 pm, the 30-share BSE Sensex gained 228 points at 18,396 and the 50-share NSE Nifty went up 71 points to 5,520.
The BSE Realty, Bank, Power, Healthcare, Metal, Auto, Capital Goods and IT indices were up 1-2.5 percent.
Reliance Infrastructure, Reliance Communications, DLF, ICICI Bank, SBI, Ambuja Cements and ACC were top gainers with 2-5 percent gain.

Indian markets follow Nikkei; gain power
Following other Asian markets, Indian markets also bounced back sharply during the opening trade on Wednesday, Mar 16. Recovery in global markets and especially in Japanese shares too led the support.
At 9:59 am, the 50-share NSE Nifty rallied 54 points to 5,504 and the 30-share BSE Sensex gained 187 points at 18,355.
ONGC, IOC, Reliance Industries, Reliance Capital, Reliance Communications, Reliance Power, Reliance Infrastructure, BPCL, Sterlite, Tata Steel, Jaiprakash Associates, M&M, Tata Motors, Dr Reddy's Labs, Ranbaxy Labs, SBI, HDFC and ICICI Bank, who among the frontliners, were supporting the markets.
However, Hero Honda was the only loser on Nifty.
