The Nifty was up 13 points in trade, while the Sensex was up 42 points in trade. Among the notable gainers in trade were HCL Tech, which rallied following a good set of results from the company. TCS, which also reported numbers that were better than estimates fell in early trade.

Other nifty losers in trade were Power Grid, HDFC Bank, Larsen and Toubro and Ultratech Cement. IndusInd Bank was trading higher following a good set of results by the company.

Nifty gainers in trade today were IDFC, DLF, Tata Motors and Reliance. Banking stocks were having a good session in trade after falling on Wednesday. Among the stocks from the space that gained ground were Canara Bank, Bank of India, Bank of Baroda and Yes Bank.

Realty stocks that were battered in trade on Wednesday also some buying support with HDIL up more than 3 per cent and Unitech up more than 2 per cent.

Mid cap stocks also saw some buying support with gainers from the space being Reliance Infra, Reliance Communications and Voltas.

Wipro was trading marginally higher ahead of its results to be declared later today. Meanwhile, markets across Asia were trading mixed with the Kospi and Strait times trading lower, while the Jakarta Composite and Hang Sang were trading with gains.
