Arun Jaitley announces scheme for welfare of girl child

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley Wednesday announced the 'Beti padhao, beti badhao' scheme and allocated Rs.100 crore for the welfare of the girl child.

Jaitley, who presented the budget, expressed grief on apathy towards the girl child in the country.

He added that crisis management center for women will be set up at Delhi, the money for which will be provided from the Nirbhaya fund.
