Tax exemption limit for individual hiked to Rs. 2.5 lakhs

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has increased the tax exemption limit for individuals from Rs. 2 lakhs to Rs.2.5 lakhs. For senior citizens the exemption limit has been increased to Rs. 3 lakhs from the previous limit of Rs. 2.5 lakhs.

Finance Minister also increased the PPF scheme to Rs. 1.5 lakhs from earlier Rs. 1 lakh. Special small savings schemes are propsed for the education of the girl child.
