On the auspicious day of Akshaya Tritiya, that will fall on 7 May this year, the Exchange has decided to conduct extended live trading session in Gold Exchange Traded Funds (ETF) securities in the equity segment.

A gold exchange-traded funds which primarily tracks the price of gold. Gold ETFs are units representing physical gold which may be in paper or dematerialised form.

These units are traded on the Exchange like a single stock of any company. Gold can be bought and sold through the trading of a security on a stock exchange.

The extended live trading session will be held for trading in gold exchange-traded fund (ETF) and sovereign gold bonds only, the NSE said in a circular. The regular market timing will remain the same and the closing session will not be available for gold ETF securities and sovereign gold bonds, it added.

The outstanding orders of gold ETF and sovereign gold bonds will be carried forward to extended trading session and can be cancelled by members during the pre-open period of extended market session between 4:25 and 4:30 pm.

The extended trading session will commence at 4:30 pm and close at 7 pm.
