Nifty Hits Record 11,000 Points; Sensex Crosses 36,000 Points For First Time

The Sensex hit a record 36,000 points, while the Nifty hit a new lifetime high of 11,000 points on robust global cues.

The BSE Sensex was last seen trading at 36,033 points, up 239 points, while the Nifty was up 72 points at 11,038 points.

Stocks with heavy weightage in the Sensex like Reliance Industries and Infosys were reponsible for propelling the Nifty past the 11,000 points and the Sensex past the 36,000 points.

The energy sector was the top gainer in trade today. Meanwhile, most Asian shares hit record highs with the Japanese Nikkei and the Singapore Strait Times leading gainers in Asia.
