Railway Minister Piyush Goyal on Thursday said that the Indian Railways will be adding another Rajdhani express to its fleet connecting Mumbai and Delhi via Central railway zone via Madhya Pradesh to connect more parts of regional Maharashtra. It will the first such express train that will run through Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), Kalyan, Nasik, Jalgaon, Khandwa, Bhopal, Jhansi, Agra, and Hazrat Nizamuddin.

At present, there are two Rajdhani trains that run services between Mumbai and Delhi. The new addition will increase the total number of Rajdhani express routes connecting Mumbai to three. The Railway Minister said that the new route was requested by Maharashtra's Chief Minister. "We will soon flag off another Delhi-Mumbai Rajdhani which will be the first Rajdhani to pass through Central Railways zone. This was a request from the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis."
In total, the Rajdhani fleet has 23 trains with two connecting to Mumbai, one from Mumbai Central and another from Bandra Terminus running through the Western Zone of the Indian Railways. The new Rajdhani will be the first one to go via Madhya Pradesh instead of Gujarat.
