On Friday the transport department of Karnataka has banned the ride-sharing services of most popular cab aggregators including Ola and Uber. The move is likely to affect several commuters who depend heavily on these carpooling services for their transportation needs.

It is to be noted on March 22, the state government of Karnataka cancelled the license of Ola for six months time. And after the ban, all of the services of Ola were to be suspended for a period of six months. But later on March 24, minister for social welfare announced that Ola will continue its services as usual.
ET report states that the latest decision to ban the service of both the aggregators has been taken in a closed-door meeting when the delegates, as well as drivers of both the cab services, were present. And the transport department views the services being offered by these companies to be illegal as per the current provisions of the licenses allowed.
In 2017 also a similar attempt was made to ban the ridesharing services of Ola and Uber but as commuters and mobility experts revolted the move, the decision was withdrawn.
