As a user of banking services, you need to always be alert for rising cybercrimes, frauds, phishing attacks, and so on. When it comes to banking scams, swindlers aim to have your personal and confidential credentials, such as usernames, passwords, PINs, or credit/debit card numbers, in order to defraud you and steal your money. But in order to avoid these unwanted hassles, Indian Banks always keep updating their customers with a range of rules and ways. For instance, the State Bank of India (SBI) and HDFC Bank have recently issued an important update regarding cyber-attacks. Via its Twitter handle, SBI has informed that "Are you receiving these links in your inbox? Steer clear! Clicking on these phishing links could lead to loss of your personal and confidential information. Stay alert. Think before you click!."

Have you received a free gift from the National Bank of India? Don't take the bait, SBI said. In order to avoid such scams, SBI has urged the customers to "Beware of Phishing Links Offering Freebies."
On the other side, the leading private sector bank of India HDFC has also raised an important notification for the customers regarding SMS and Email scams. The bank has said via its Twitter handle that "Got an SMS or Email that says 'you have won a lottery' without ever applying for it? #MoohBandhRakho as it could be a fraud. Report it to National Cyber Crime on 155260 or http://cybercrime.gov.in."
Fraudsters may use unknown WhatsApp numbers to declare fake lottery wins. In order to counter this type of fraudulent activity HDFC Bank has warned that "Always watch out for fake offers and report fraudulent calls to the Cyber Crime Portal."
To avoid online phishing attacks and to beware of fraud websites HDFC Bank has said that "Fraudsters are using malicious platforms to host phishing websites. Mooh Band Rakho and report suspicious-looking websites to report.phishingsite@hdfcbank.com. Don't share your personal banking details with anyone."
HDFC Bank has asked customers to beware of fraudsters who may impersonate banking sites to collect sensitive banking information. In order to avoid the same, the private lender has said that "Always Exercise Caution. Do not click on suspicious links. Verify website authenticity with your bank."
"Beware of fraudulent calls/messages/emails that ask you to make a payment or share financial details to improve your Covid-19 vaccination eligibility. Avoid Covid-19 & Frauds with one simple mantra #MoohBandRakho," HDFC Bank has warned on its official website.
By sharing some secure banking tips, HDFC Bank has mentioned on its website that:
- Government / Health officials will not Call | Message | Email asking for financial details like OTP, Card number & other Bank information for COVID-19 vaccination.
- Do not make online payments to register for or improve your eligibility to receive Covid-19 vaccination.
