Thursday sees the debut of Air India's new, bold logo. Its new livery and design have a chakra-inspired pattern and a colour scheme of deep red, aubergine, and gold accents. Beginning in December 2023, travellers will start catching the new logo and design. According to Air India, its brand-new Airbus SE A350 aircraft, which is scheduled to make its debut later this year, will carry its new brand logo. "Our new look reimagines the iconic Indian window, also part of our history, into a gold window frame, symbolising a "Window of Possibilities"," said Air India via a Twitter post.
On the development CEO Campbell Wilson said, "It is a total and complete transformation of Air India. It is not just changing the brand. Now, of course, this takes time. It is a big project. There are a lot of moving parts. But we're absolutely committed to the transformation of Air India. We're investing a lot of money, a lot of time, a lot of passion..."

Campbell Wilson, said: "Our transformative new brand reflects an ambition to make Air India a world class airline serving guests from around the globe, and that represents a new India proudly on the global stage. The new Air India is bold, confident, and vibrant, but also warm and deeply rooted to its rich history and traditions that make Indian hospitality a global benchmark for standards in service," MoneyControl quoted.
"Travellers will begin to see the new logo throughout their journey starting December 2023, when Air India's first Airbus A350 enters the fleet in the new livery," Air India said in the statement.
'The Vista' - is inspired by the peak of the gold window frame, signifying "limitless possibilities, progressiveness, and the airline's bold, confident outlook for the future," an official statement of Air India reads.
The airline would also steadily roll out the new Air India website, mobile app, loyalty programme, etc by the end of 2026. In a $70 billion deal, Air India has secured purchase agreements for 470 new aircraft from Airbus and Boeing. By November, deliveries are scheduled to begin. On the margins of the Paris Air Show in June of this year, the purchase agreement was completed. In addition to 140 Airbus A320neo, 70 Airbus A321neo, and 190 Boeing 737MAX narrowbody aircraft, the orders call for 34 A350-1000, six A350-900, twenty Boeing 787 Dreamliners, and ten Boeing 777X widebody aircraft.
CBFC chairperson Prasoon Joshi speaks on Air India unveiling its new logo; says, "...The mascot is part of the legacy. And very balanced thinking has to be kept as to how to keep it and how to evolve that, so an effort has been made to maintain that balance. It has been given a new look."
