Bharti Airtel has announced the successful protection of over 2.25 million users in Punjab from online scams within just 35 days of launching its AI-powered fraud detection system nationwide. This initiative is part of Airtel's ongoing efforts to shield customers from increasing digital threats.

The telecom giant introduced this advanced fraud detection solution on May 15. It identifies and blocks harmful websites across various communication platforms like WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook, Instagram, and email in real time. The system is automatically enabled for all Airtel mobile and broadband users.
AI-Powered Fraud Detection System
The AI-driven platform examines over a billion URLs daily, blocking access to malicious sites in less than 100 milliseconds. If a user receives a suspicious message, such as a fake delivery notification, the system scans the link immediately. If deemed dangerous, access is blocked, and the user sees a warning message: "Blocked! Airtel found this site dangerous!"
This proactive approach prevents users from falling victim to various types of fraud. Across India, Airtel has blocked more than 188,000 malicious links and protected 86 million users from potential scams.
Impact on Punjab's Cities and Towns
Fraudsters often target users with phishing links and fake alerts. Cities like Chandigarh, Mohali, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Amritsar, Patiala, and Bathinda have experienced a rise in such fraudulent activities. Smaller towns like Moga and Gurdaspur are also affected.
Airtel's solution provides fraud warnings in multiple languages, including Punjabi. It operates seamlessly in the background without requiring installation and is offered at no additional cost to users.
Commitment to Digital Safety
Anupam Arora, CEO of Bharti Airtel's upper north region, expressed enthusiasm for the new solution: "We are thrilled to advance our efforts in combating all emerging digital threats. Today, we are pleased to introduce the world's first AI-driven fraud detection solution integrated into our network infrastructure."
Arora believes this innovation will significantly enhance customer safety by offering a secure digital experience in Punjab. The company's commitment to digital safety continues as it tackles the growing threat of online fraud.
