Bharti Airtel has announced the successful protection of over 4 million users in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh from cyber threats. This achievement comes through its AI-powered fraud detection system, which was rolled out nationwide. Within just 41 days of its launch, the system has been instrumental in safeguarding a significant number of users, according to a company release.

AI-Powered Fraud Detection System
The innovative system is automatically activated for all Airtel mobile and broadband customers. It scans and filters links across various platforms such as SMS, WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook, Instagram, and E-mail. The system uses real-time threat intelligence to scrutinise over 1 billion URLs daily. It blocks access to malicious sites in less than 100 milliseconds.
Ritesh Agrawal, CEO of Bharti Airtel for Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, emphasised the company's commitment to customer safety. "At Airtel, customer safety remains our top priority. We are proud to launch the world's first AI-powered fraud detection solution in Madhya Pradesh - an innovation designed to protect our users from ever-evolving cyber threats," he stated.
Collaboration for Enhanced Digital Safety
A Sai Manohar, ADGP at the State Cyber Headquarter in Bhopal, commended Airtel's efforts. He highlighted the importance of collaboration in improving digital safety and reducing online harm. "There is an urgent need to intensify efforts to combat cyber financial frauds and scams. It's possible only through robust fraud prevention strategies and use of AI/ML," he said.
Airtel's advanced technology provides proactive protection embedded directly into the network at no additional cost to customers. This initiative aims to empower users across both states to engage confidently in the digital world. The company believes this technology will offer robust security against growing digital risks.
The telecom operator's solution is a significant step towards addressing the increasing scale and complexity of digital threats. By integrating this technology into their network, Airtel ensures that its customers can navigate the digital landscape safely and securely.
