Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has announced funding for the beautification of roads leading to Ganjgolai, a historic site in Latur city. During a state-level meeting on the District Annual Plan for 2025-26, Pawar, who also serves as the Minister for Finance and Planning, instructed officials to prepare a detailed plan for this project.

The meeting, conducted via video conferencing, included Guardian Minister Shivendrasinhraje Bhosale, Cooperation Minister Babasaheb Patil, Minister of State for Finance and Planning Ashish Jaiswal, MLA Sanjay Bansode, and senior officials. Pawar highlighted the need to respect Ganjgolai's historical importance while enhancing its heritage value through architectural harmony.
Infrastructure and Civic Amenities
Pawar stressed the importance of maintaining cleanliness in Latur city and its surroundings. He called for coordinated efforts to improve civic amenities for residents. The deputy CM also reviewed the Latur Zilla Parishad's Balantvida initiative, which provides essential kits to pregnant women, urging officials to ensure high-quality distribution to eligible beneficiaries.
District Guardian Minister Bhosale raised concerns about frequent power transformer breakdowns in Latur due to increased load. He requested funds to enhance their capacity. Meanwhile, Minister of State Jaiswal directed the ZP and Latur Municipal Corporation to collaborate on sanitation efforts in villages near civic limits.
Comprehensive Development Discussions
The meeting addressed various key issues such as healthcare, infrastructure, sanitation, agriculture-related services, animal husbandry, school and Anganwadi buildings, and rural crematoriums. Cooperation Minister Patil and MLA Bansode presented several district-level demands during the discussions.
District Collector Varsha Thakur-Ghuge provided an update on the funds used under the 2024-25 plan and outlined proposed projects for the next fiscal year. Pawar assured efforts to secure additional funds beyond the approved district allocation for Latur's development.
In conclusion, these initiatives aim to enhance Latur's infrastructure while preserving its cultural heritage. The focus remains on improving civic amenities and addressing pressing issues like power supply and sanitation.
