In a big relief for thousands of government job aspirants, the Andhra Pradesh Government has rolled out a game-changing update to the recruitment process conducted by the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC). The move aims to fast-track hiring, reduce costs for candidates, and simplify the selection process for various government posts.
APPSC Job Updates: Major Changes in Rules
Until now, APPSC held a preliminary (screening) exam if more than 25,000 applications were received, no matter how many vacancies were announced. But not anymore. Under the new guidelines, a screening test will be conducted only when the number of applicants is 200 times more than the number of vacancies.

For instance, if there are 100 posts, the prelims will happen only if over 20,000 people apply. If not, the commission can go straight to a single mains exam, skipping the prelims altogether.
What Does This Mean for Job Seekers?
Fewer exams, less hassle, and reduced expenses. Previously, aspirants had to prepare separately for both prelims and mains-even for a single post. Now, many recruitments will be completed through just one mains exam, streamlining the process and saving valuable time for candidates and officials alike.
The APPSC has stated that the earlier system caused unnecessary delays and financial strain-not just for the government, but also for the unemployed youth investing time and money into a long-drawn process. The commission's proposal, submitted to the state government on Monday, emphasizes efficiency and fairness.
If approved, the new system will apply to all upcoming APPSC job notifications, ushering in a simpler, smarter recruitment era. For thousands preparing for government jobs, this is not just a policy change, it is a breath of fresh air.
