Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella issued his first reaction on the global outage caused by a faulty update from American cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike. Nadella said, "We are aware of this issue and are working closely with CrowdStrike and across the industry to provide customers technical guidance and support to safely bring their systems back online."
The incident that took place on July 19 led to massive disruptions in operations of several sectors that included airlines, TV channels, banks, and various other businesses dependent on Windows systems. The incident occurred due to flawed update installed by CrowdStrike on their Falcon Sensor, designed to safeguard Windows environments, according to reports.

Meanwhile, CrowdStrike's CEO George Kurtz immediately recognized the issue and conveyed that the error had been discovered and rectified. "We have isolated the issue and implemented a fix," Kurtz said.
The faulty update, which notably did not affect Mac or Linux systems, reportedly went live at 1900 GMT on Thursday, as per Microsoft's disclosure. By Friday morning, several firms declared operational disruptions due to the malfunctioning update.
The consequences were deep all across the globe, grounding leading US carriers that included Delta, United, and American Airlines as a result of severe communication issues. Air France also coped with IT disruptions, though operations at key Paris airports did not get affected.
In India, the consequence was equally severe, with airline check-in systems crashing and leading to extensive flight delays and cancellations. IndiGo alone axed nearly 200 flights, forcing airports to shift to manual bookings, check-ins, and boarding procedures to manage the chaos, as per reports.
Meanwhile, the financial and payment systems in India remained mostly intact, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) noted minor disruptions at approximately 10 banks and NBFCs, swiftly resolved to minimize impact.
