The pran pratishtha ceremony of the revered Ram Lalla idol at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya will be broadcast live on Doordarshan on January 22. As the nation awaits this occasion, celebrations and artistic preparations are in full swing not only in Ayodhya but also in various parts of the country.
The Ram temple trust has actively embraced virtual participation, ensuring that the sacred rituals during the consecration ceremony reach the masses. Varanasi priest Lakshmi Kant Dixit will preside over the main rituals during this auspicious event, further emphasizing the cultural and religious significance of the occasion.

Dignitaries of national prominence, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and RSS Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat, are slated to address the temple's inauguration function. Prime Minister Modi, in a special appeal to the citizens, has encouraged the lighting of a 'Shree Ram Jyoti' in homes across the country on the day of the consecration.
The live screening of the Rs 1,200-crore Ram temple inauguration is scheduled for January 22, between 11 am to 1 pm. The consecration of the idol of Lord Ram, the focal point of this historic event, is set to take place at 12:20 pm. The ceremony will witness the presence of around 8,000 invitees, including 1,500-1,600 distinguished guests.
The entire proceedings will be broadcast live on DD News, and international viewers can join the spectacle on Doordarshan National's YouTube channel. To capture every detail, a total of 40 cameras have been strategically placed in various locations in Ayodhya, promising a visually stunning 4K display.
Doordarshan's coverage will extend beyond the temple premises, featuring live visuals from Ram ki Paidi near Saryu ghat, the Jatayu statue at Kuber Tila, and other key locations in the city. Additionally, live broadcasts will be beamed from Indian embassies and consulates worldwide, ensuring that the global Indian diaspora can partake in this historic moment.
Preparations are also underway to broadcast the consecration ceremony in various temples across India, turning it into a nationwide celebration. The live relay to temples and public spaces nationwide aims to involve communities far and wide, fostering a sense of unity and shared cultural pride.
The inclusivity of the broadcast, reaching not only Indian homes but also global audiences, emphasizes the transcendence of this historic event.
