If you have important bank work lined up, here's a heads-up. Bank holidays next week from March 23rd to 29th could affect branch services across several cities in India. As per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) calendar, both private and public sector banks will remain closed for four days during the week. However, the observance is statewise which includes festival holidays along with the regular fourth Saturday and Sunday weekend closures.

Bank holidays in India vary depending on the state and local festivals. Here are the key dates to note according to RBI calender
March 26, Thursday: Ram Navami: Banks will remain closed in cities like Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Belapur, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Jaipur, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Ranchi, and Shimla.
March 27, Friday: Some cities will observe Ram Navami on friday as well so Banks in some cities will be shut which includes Hyderabad, Patna, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Gangtok, and Vijayawada.
On Saturday, March 28, banks across India will remain closed due to the fourth Saturday holiday, which applies to all public and private sector banks. This will be followed by March 29 Sunday, when banks will again remain shut nationwide as part of the regular weekly holiday.
Typically, banks operate on the first, third, and fifth Saturdays, unless a special holiday is declared.
State-wise holiday impact
One important thing to remember is that bank holidays are not the same across India. While some cities observe Ram Navami on March 26, others mark it on March 27. This means bank closures depend on your location.
Customers are advised to check with their local bank branch to confirm whether the holiday applies in their area.
Will online banking work during the holidays?
Even though bank branches remain closed, online banking services continue to function normally. Customers can still carry out transactions using, UPI apps, Mobile banking, Internet banking
You can send or receive money, pay bills, or check balances anytime. However, in rare cases, services may be temporarily unavailable due to scheduled maintenance.
