Bank Holidays Next Week: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has marked multiple bank holidays in the month of December due to occasions like Christmas, New Year's Eve, etc. As we prepare for the upcoming week, let's find out about bank holidays scheduled between 8 December and 14 December.
As per the RBI bank holiday calendar, banks remain closed every Sunday and the second and fourth Saturday of the month. While, these holidays are for regions across the country. THere are few other bank holidays marked by the RBI under 'Negotiable Instruments Act', which means that these holidays may vary from region to region.

Bank Holidays Next Week
As per the RBI holiday list, banks will remain closed for four days in the upcoming week, including Saturday and Sunday. Two bank holidays may vary from region to region.
Bank Holiday on Tuesday, 9 December
Banks will remain closed in the Kochi and Thiruvananthpuram region on Tuesday, 9 December. Which means that there will be a bank holiday in Kerala on Tuesday. The bank holiday is scheduled in the wake of general election to Local Government Institutions 2025. Apart from the two regions, banks will remain open across the country on Tuesday.
Bank Holiday on Friday, 12 December
Banks will remain shut in Shillong region, which loosely reflects to a bank holiday in Meghalaya on Friday, 12 December. As per the RBI Holiday calendar, banks will be closed in the mentioned region on Friday to observe the death anniversary of Pa Togan Nengminja Sangma. Apart from Shillong region, banks will remain open in Friday next week in the rest of regions across India.
Bank Holiday on Saturday, Sunday
In the upcoming week, banks will be closed across the country on Saturday, 13 September, as it will be the second Saturday of the month. The RBI has made bank holidays mandatory on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. Additionally, the bank holiday across India will extend to Sunday as well.
The Reserve Bank of India has listed 18 bank holidays in December 2025, with several of them varying by state. While Christmas on December 25 will see a nationwide shutdown, many other closures apply only to specific cities. Customers are advised to verify local timings before visiting branches.
Under RBI rules, all scheduled and non-scheduled banks "will observe public holiday on the second and fourth Saturdays". Sundays are regular weekly offs as well. Together with national and regional holidays, this creates a dense December calendar that can affect cash, cheque and branch-dependent work.
The RBI holiday list for December 2025 covers national events, religious occasions and local commemorations. Panaji, Shillong, Gangtok, Aizawl, Kohima, Imphal and other centres have distinct observances. These dates apply to the respective jurisdictions only, so people and businesses must track the locations relevant to their accounts.
