Giving attention to the calendar before stepping out is a must to do task for resident banking customers especially senior citizens who need to visit their nearest bank branch on a regular basis, in the month of October, as there are a total of 9 holidays from today according to the Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act of Reserve Bank of India (RBI). Indian banks will be closed for nine days, except second and fourth Saturdays, and Sundays, due to numerous Indian festivals to be celebrated in different states or locations. Holidays are divided into three categories by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI): Holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act, Holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act and Real-Time Gross Settlement Holidays, and Banks' Closing of Accounts. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has issued a list of holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act which is as follows:

13th October 2021: Banks in Agartala, Bhubaneswar, Gangtok, Guwahati, Imphal, Kolkata, Patna, and Ranchi will be closed for Durga Puja (Maha Ashtami).
14th October 2021: Banks in Agartala, Bengaluru, Chennai, Gangtok, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Patna, Ranchi, Shillong, and Thiruvananthapuram will be shut for Durga Puja/Dussehra (Maha Navami)/Ayutha Pooja.
15th October 2021: Banks to remain closed for Durga Puja/Dasara/Dussehra (Vijaya Dashmi) across Agartala, Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Belapur, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Gangtok, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Panaji, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Shillong, Srinagar, and Thiruvananthapuram.
16th October 2021: Only in Gangtok, banks will be closed for Durga Puja (Dasain).
18th October 2021: Banks in Guwahati will be closed for Kati Bihu.
19th October 2021: In Ahmedabad, Belapur, Bhopal, Chennai, Dehradun, Hyderabad, Imphal, Jammu, Kanpur, Kochi, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Raipur, Ranchi, Srinagar, and Thiruvananthapuram, banks will be shut for Id-E-Milad/Eid-e-Miladunnabi/Milad-i-Sherif (Prophet Mohammad's Birthday)/Baravafat.
20th October 2021: In Agartala, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Kolkata, and Shimla, banks will be closed for Maharishi Valmiki's birthday/Lakshmi Puja/Id-E-Milad.
22nd October 2021: In Jammu and Srinagar only, banks will be closed on Friday following Eid-i-Milad-ul-Nabi.
26th October 2021: In Jammu and Srinagar, banks will be closed for Accession Day.
