Bank branches across several states will remain closed on multiple days in January 2026, according to the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) holiday calendar. The closures are due to a combination of regional festivals, birth anniversaries of prominent leaders and national holidays observed under the Negotiable Instruments Act.
While the number of holidays varies from state to state, customers in some regions may see banks shut for up to 10-12 days in the month when Sundays and second and fourth Saturdays are also taken into account.

However, digital banking services such as UPI, mobile banking and internet banking will continue to function normally. Customers may face delays in branch-based services including cheque clearances, cash withdrawals at counters and documentation-related work on these days.
