Bharti Airtel Announces Revised Mobile Tariffs; Shares Hit 52-Week High

The leading telecom player Bharti Airtel has always advocated that the average revenue per user (ARPU) for mobile be at Rs. 200 and eventually be a decent Rs. 300. In the press release announcing revised mobile tariffs, the telco iterates that this is necessary for providing a reasonable return on capital that allows for a financially healthy business model.

"We also believe that this level of ARPU will enable the substantial investments required in networks and spectrum. Even more important, this will give Airtel the elbow room to roll out 5G in India. Therefore, as a first step, we are taking the lead in rebalancing our tariffs during the month of November. Accordingly our new tariffs as indicated below will come into effect from November 26, 2021", adds the telco major.

Getting a boost on the tariff hike news, shares of Bharti Airtel hit 52-week high price of Rs. 755.95 apiece on the NSE, gaining 5.8 percent from the previous close. On the BSE, the stock hit a high price of Rs. 756.
