Telecom operator Bharti Airtel has announced a strategic partnership with IntelliSmart Infrastructure to connect up to 2 crore smart meters with Internet of Things (IoT) technology. The project, estimated to be executed over the next 10 years, marks Airtel's foray into smart metering applications, including head-end systems, cloud, and analytics.

Largest Deal in India's Smart Metering Space
This partnership represents one of the largest deals in the smart metering space in India and will significantly contribute to Airtel's rapidly growing IoT deployment across various sectors. Airtel's proprietary platform, the Airtel IoT Hub, will enable utilities to track and monitor smart meters with advanced analytics while maintaining high reliability and telco-grade security.
Driving the Government's Digitization Vision
Ganesh Lakshminarayanan, CEO of Airtel Business India, highlighted the importance of IoT as one of the fastest-growing business segments for Airtel Business. He expressed the company's strategic positioning to play a pivotal role in driving the government's vision of digitizing 250 million conventional meters to smart meters.

Anil Rawal, MD and CEO of IntelliSmart Infrastructure, emphasized the significance of India's smart metering program as a step towards modernizing the power distribution sector.
