Ladki Bahin Yojana News: The Maharashtra government has started the process to recover funds from ineligible beneficiaries of the Ladki Bahin Yojana scheme. The development has come as millions of beneficiaries of the scheme await the next instalment.
The state government has begun taking action against ineligible beneficiaries who were receiving the Ladki Bahin Yojana benefit, stated Maharashtra Women and Child Development (WCD) minister Aditi S Tatkare on Friday, reported the Indian Express. The state government is expected to recover a total of Rs 165 crore that had been distributed to ineligible beneficiaries of the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana.

It was reported that thousands of people were receiving Ladki Bahin Yojana benefits despite failing to qualify for the scheme. To take action against ineligible beneficiaries, the government has also begun the Ladki Bahin Yojana Know Your Customer (KYC) to verify beneficiaries.
In another step to deal with fake beneficiaries of the scheme, the government has now begun the process to recover funds distributed to ineligible beneficiaries. "Recovery from ineligible beneficiaries has begun. Departments have been directed to act against those who knowingly availed the benefits, despite not being eligible," IE quoted Tatkare as saying.

GoodReturns couldn't independently verify either of the claims and an official confirmation from the Maharashtra government is awaited about the same.
