A devastating train accident near Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh claimed at least 11 lives and left several others injured on Tuesday, according to the South East Central Railway (SECR), as reported by ANI. The tragic incident occurred at around 4 p.m. when a MEMU passenger train travelling from Gevra collided with a stationary goods train between Gatora and Bilaspur stations.
Bilaspur Train Accident: Death Toll Reaches 11
As per initial reports, 11 passengers have been confirmed dead, while dozens sustained injuries of varying severity. Rescue teams, along with local administration and railway officials, rushed to the site to carry out evacuation and medical assistance. Many of the injured were transported to nearby hospitals in Bilaspur for urgent treatment.

Trains Cancelled or Delayed Due to Bilaspur Train Accident: Check Trains' List With Revised Timings
The accident severely disrupted rail operations in the Bilaspur division, leading to multiple train cancellations and delays. According to SECR, the following trains were cancelled due to the derailment between Getora and Bilaspur stations:
- 68732 Bilaspur - Korba MEMU Local
- 68731 Korba - Bilaspur MEMU Local
- 68719 Bilaspur - Raipur MEMU Local

Train No. 18517 Korba - Visakhapatnam Express, delayed by 5 hours (scheduled departure 16:10 hrs, now 21:30 hrs).
Train No. 18239 Gevra Road - Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Express, delayed by 3 hours 30 minutes (scheduled 18:13 hrs, now 21:43 hrs).
Train No. 18114 Bilaspur - Tatanagar Express, delayed by 3 hours (scheduled 18:50 hrs, now 21:50 hrs).

How Did the Bilaspur Train Accident Happen?
Preliminary investigations by the railway authorities suggest that the accident was likely caused by the goods train passing a signal at danger (red), leading to the fatal rear-end collision as per Indian Express report. The accident site is located just a few kilometres from Bilaspur city, which serves as the headquarters of the South East Central Railway.
