BSE Sensex Gains 762 Points, Closes At Record High, Nifty Above 18,400

The 30-share BSE Sensex gained 762 points on Thursday to close at 62,272 and Nifty 50 surged 216 points to end at 18,484. All sectoral indices ended in the green as IT, Oil & Gas gained 1-2% intraday. Apollo Hospital and HDFC Life gained above 4% each and figured in top gainers of the day. Meanwhile, Cipla and Coal India declined 1% each.

Nifty Bank gained 346 points to close at 43075. Nifty Midcap gained 138 points to end the day at 31289.

Earlier, the Equity benchmarks started the day's trade on a positive note on Thursday, tracking a firm trend in global markets. BSE Sensex climbed 124.35 points to 61,634.93 in early trade. The broader NSE Nifty gained 38 points to 18,305.25, according to a PTI report. The BSE benchmark later quoted 248.22 points higher at 61,760.67 and the Nifty traded 75 points up at 18,342.25.

According to report, the share market cheered the news of the US Federal Reserve as it stated that the central bank witnessing progress in its fight against high inflation and is planning to slow the pace of rate hikes.
