CBSE Board Exam 2026 Schedule For Class 10, Class 12
The CBSE board exams 2026 for both classes begin on February 17, 2026. Class 10 exams are planned to end on March 11, 2026, while Class 12 papers will run till April 10, 2026, reported Times of India. These dates cover one of the longest exam windows in recent years, with revised systems operating for the first time together.
CBSE Board Exam Frequency
The CBSE Board exams 2026 comes at Class 10 level where CBSE now hold two board examinations in one academic cycle. The first will run from February 17 to March 9, 2026. The second window, between May 15 and June 1, 2026, exists only for improvement attempts.
Both Class 10 exams follow the same syllabus, so there is no reduced or special paper in May and June. CBSE Controller of Examinations Sanyam Bharadwaj has made one point very clear to students, that the February board exam is compulsory for everyone, reported Times of India. The second exam is optional and only for improving marks already scored.
CBSE Board Exams 2026 Pattern
Under the new pattern for CBSE board exams 2026, students can reappear in a limited number of Class 10 subjects. The improvement attempt in the second exam is allowed for a maximum of three subjects. Learners may choose any combination, but they cannot repeat all papers or avoid the first exam completely.
For the final Class 10 result, CBSE will consider whichever score is better in each subject across the two exams. Despite this option, the board has warned that the second examination is not a backup for weak preparation. Families have also been advised not to force children into extra attempts unless marks actually need improvement.
