Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has unveiled several initiatives aimed at boosting agriculture in Bihar. These measures, including the establishment of an APEDA office and increased funding for hybrid seeds, were announced following a meeting with Bihar Agriculture Minister Mangal Pandey at Krishi Bhawan. The government's commitment to supporting farmers under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership was emphasised.

APEDA Office and Hybrid Seeds Funding
Chouhan highlighted the plan to set up an APEDA office in Bihar, which is expected to enhance agricultural exports. He also announced increased funding for hybrid seeds, aiming to improve crop yields. Ministry officials have been directed to strengthen support for advanced seeds and address Bihar's request for additional funds under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana.
Support for Agricultural Schemes
Recognising Bihar's agricultural achievements, Chouhan instructed officials to allocate more resources for the Krishi Unnati Yojana. This move is part of a broader strategy to uplift the state's farming sector. Additionally, discussions were held on enhancing the Regional Maize Research and Seed Production Centre of ICAR in Bihar.
Focus on Litchi and Honey Production
Chouhan acknowledged Bihar's prominence in litchi cultivation and pledged support for litchi and honey producers. This initiative aims to boost these sectors, providing farmers with better opportunities and resources. The central government is intensifying efforts to enhance farmers' welfare through these targeted measures.
The initiatives are expected to significantly benefit Bihar's agricultural community. By focusing on key areas such as seed funding, research centres, and specific crop support, the government aims to improve the livelihoods of farmers across the state.
